The Light Returns Residency

Inspiration

The world feels heavy these days, with severe hurricanes wreaking havoc, fires raging in California, wars in Ukraine, and conflict between Israel and Hamas, and that’s not even half of what we could list. It’s easy to despair, to focus on everything that feels wrong. But even in the darkest times, there is always light. There are always helpers.

This residency is my way of focusing on that light and hopefully also a way of being a helper. While I won’t ignore the challenges of our time or stop working to create positive change, I will use my creativity to bring hope and beauty into the world. As we emerge from winter and the days grow longer, we’re reminded that brighter times are always ahead.

What is The Light Returns Residency?

From January 22nd through February 7th,

I’ll be working on The Light Returns Collection—a new body of abstract acrylics, watercolors, and mixed media pieces. This period of focused creation will allow me to explore the theme of light and renewal in-depth.

Why I’m Calling This a Residency

Though I won’t be traveling to a formal studio space, I’ll be dedicating this time exclusively to intense creation. During these weeks, I’ll immerse myself in the process, share the inspiration behind my work, document my journey, and unveil the final pieces. Sponsors of The Light Returns Residency will be invited to be part of this creative journey.

The result will be a collection that celebrates light, hope, and renewal—a reminder that even when times are tough, the light always returns.

15% of all proceeds sold from this collection will be donated to the NC Artists Disaster Relief Fund.

Why Sponsor This Residency?

This isn’t just about me creating art—it’s about us. It’s about coming together to co-create a moment of light, hope, and beauty in a time when the world desperately needs it.

When you sponsor The Light Returns Residency, you’re not just supporting the creation of art—you’re becoming part of it. Your involvement breathes life into this project, transforming an idea into a tangible, meaningful collection that celebrates resilience and renewal.

This residency isn’t only for me; it’s for you. It’s for those who long to feel inspired again, to be reminded that light always returns, even in the darkest times. By supporting this residency, you’re joining a movement of hope. You’ll witness the creative process firsthand, experience the unfolding of an entirely new collection, and hold in your hands a piece of art that reflects the light you helped bring to life.

Art has the power to heal, to uplift, and to connect us—and your support makes that possible. Together, we’ll create something extraordinary.
